  • Wednesday 25 May 2022 Cardiff with Luston and Shobdon - Day One After a safe journey our Y5 and 6 children from Luston and Shobdon arrived in Cardiff to start their residential adventure.
  • Tuesday 24 May 2022 The Queen's Platinum Jubilee We have all had a wonderful afternoon celebrating the Queen's Jubilee here at Luston. We began with a crown parade followed by a collection of dances from different decades, lots of singing and finally some party food. A fantastic day filled with school spirt and lots of fun.
  • Tuesday 24 May 2022 Cherry Class celebrating the jubilee Today we had a party to celebrate The Queens platinum jubilee. We all learnt a dance to 80’s music and performed it to the rest of the school. We then had a royal tea party.
  • Saturday 21 May 2022 The Queen - song words We are so excited to begin our jubilee celebrations this week. Why not sing along to our new song 'The Queen'
  • Friday 20 May 2022 Author Visit Cherry and Willow Class were treated to a virtual visit from an author today. They were introduced to Sharon Davey who wrote the book 'My Magic Family'. She answered lots of questions about what it's like to be an author before giving us a tutorial on how to draw one of the characters from her books. An inspiring morning!
  • Wednesday 18 May 2022 Luston Village's Jubilee Celebrations Please find below details of Luston Village’s jubilee celebrations. All school familieshave been invited and are very welcome to join them.
  • Tuesday 17 May 2022 Values Festival Fun! A Tri-Golf team and an athletics team attended the School Games Values Festival at Hereford Leisure Centre and had an amazing day of fun sporting activities. The day was centred around the importance of demonstrating the School Games values of: passion, honesty, determination, teamwork, self-belief and respect. Many teams took part in each sport and at the end Luston were presented with a plaque and medals for demonstrating the most passion in Tri-Golf and a plaque and medals for demonstrating honesty during the athletics.
  • Sunday 15 May 2022 Telling the time Willow children have been hard at work this week learning to tell the time. Here is a photograph of Ruby's independent maths work. What a wonderful example of how to show your understanding of a topic, she also inspired other children to do the same.
  • Wednesday 11 May 2022 Making rockets Cherry Class have enjoyed learning about space over the last few weeks. This week they have worked in pairs to make these fantastic rockets.
  • Thursday 5 May 2022 Redwood Rounders During PE, Redwood class have been practising their striking and fielding skills through the game of rounders.

  • Wednesday 6 April 2022 Redwood Roman Day Redwoods have enjoyed a fantastic day with the History Man enjoying a huge range of different activities focused on the Romans. It was a great way to consolidate all their Roman knowledge that they have learnt during the term.

  • Monday 28 March 2022 Cherry and Willow trip to Eastnor Castle Cherry and Willow class had a fantastic time at Eastnor castle. They enjoyed learning about the key features of a castle and looking at the beautiful decoration inside. They were fascinated by all of the armour on display and had a fantastic time playing in the park afterwards,

  • Wednesday 23 March 2022 Clay figures Larch really enjoyed making their clay figure sculptures inspired by the artist Alberto Giacometti. First we made a wire human outline before adding clay in coils around it. They all looked fabulous.
  • Sunday 20 March 2022 Science Week in Cherry & Willow What an amazing science week we've all had!
  • Saturday 19 March 2022 Electricity safety workshop and assembly Key Stage 2 enjoyed an assembly from Western Power, who shared with us the danger of electricity and how to keep safe. We learned to call 105, stay alive. We also found out that vulnerable residents can register with Western Power, to have priority in a power cut.
  • Saturday 19 March 2022 Science fayre A huge thank you to everybody who completed science projects. The children really enjoyed sharing their work with each other and learning from each others projects. We enjoyed a wide range of topics from bridges to life cycles to how skin repairs.
  • Thursday 17 March 2022 Forest School For Science Week As part of Science Week, Larch and Redwood have spent time focusing on the growth of a plant. They have created wild flower seed bombs by combining flour, water, wild flower seeds and compost. They decided where they thought the flowers would flourish and planted their seed bombs. They also each planted a sunflower seed to take home. We hope to see lots of colour around school in the future and look forward to hearing how the sunflowers are growing at home. In addition Redwood class discovered the age of the Redwood tree by measuring the circumference and dividing by 2.5. We all had an estimate of the age of the tree and those the nearest to 82 years were correct! It began to grow in 1940, during WWII.

Leavers 2020

This year has been memorable for many reasons but welcoming back all the year 6s for a final celebration of their school life at Luston was definitely the most special. They have now grown their roots and are ready to fly having achieved so much since starting primary school. We all wish them every success in the future at high school and beyond.
