Forest School
Forest School is my favourite time of the week. I especially enjoy the camp fire and roasting marshmallows!
At Shobdon we are very fortunate to have our very own Forest School area on our school grounds! This is an area which is not accessed by children unless they are taking part in Forest School, which makes it exciting and special. We also have a mud kitchen from which all kinds of muddy delights are prepared and dished up. All children are able to access Forest School, with Y1 –Y6 having a half term of Forest School each and Reception having an allocated whole day.
Children are able to explore the outdoors and experience a wide range of activities – either presented or child-led, using the natural materials available at the time. Children are encouraged to work cooperatively and perhaps with children that they might not work with in class. Forest School at Shobdon gives children the opportunity to spend time outside, take risks, learn new skills such as working with tools safely and lighting fires, have great fun, increase confidence and really shine.
