Children under the age of eight years living further than two miles from school, where Luston is their nearest school, will be provided with transport if required. Over the age of eight, the distance is three miles. The Local Authority Transport Office will occasionally consider other criteria when deciding eligibility for help with transport. Pupils travelling on the school minibus are supervised only by the driver, who must concentrate on his/her driving. Therefore, in the interests of their own safety, children must not change seats or stand up when the bus is in motion, or distract the driver in any way. Seat belts must be worn. If children misbehave continually, the child’s parents may be asked to find another means of transport. A Local Authority booklet on Bus Safety is given to each pupil and their family who use the school minibus, and regulations must be adhered to.
